Liquid “Crack” Addiction

These items are created to satisfy our addictions to sugar, soda and caffeine.

I used to call Coke Zero “liquid crack”- an openly admitted it- I was hooked- so hooked that I would drive to the next store if they did not have it at the first convenience store- and I did not like the Pepsi version. And swore off diet coke- in favor of the crack zero product.

Am I different than any of you? My own sister admits that she also loves the liquid crack- and my sister and I also loved the normal deathly Coke products. yet my wife- who never drank regular sugared up coca cola- loves her diet coke and thinks the zero product is far too sweet for her.

We start with the * not a significant source section-

This mention is akin to a warning- translated- “this product has absolutely no nutritional value at all”.

CARBONATED WATER:

So, the path of least resistance (to becoming healthy) is impeded by the first ingredient in liquid crack. the additional of chemicals to carbonate the water demolishes the protective enamel on your teeth- this causes your body to do whatever it has to do to repair or replace the damaged items.

Your body could spend the time and resources on repairing your clogged and damaged arteries, but, instead must multi-task and protect your teeth from the carbonated water damage. If it damages your teeth, it is damaging elsewhere, too- but studies are not indicative because the damage is insidious- and far less obvious.

Caramel Color:

Caramel coloring is added to many soft drinks and to some foods to change their color to brown, and is one of the most-used food colorings in the world. But according to a 2007 government study, 4-MEI was found to cause cancer in mice, and 4-MEI was classified as a possible human carcinogen by the World Health Organization in 2011.

While there is no federally regulated limitation on the amount of 4-MEI in foods, California has a law stating that manufacturers must put a warning label on any product that exposes people to more than 29 micrograms of 4-MEI per day. It’s also important to note that there are no studies listing the impacts of small amounts of 4-MEI over time.

Consumer Reports study found that certain Pepsi® drinks and the soft drink Malta Goya® contain large amounts of 4-MEI. And while not all sodas have excessive levels of 4-MEI, sodas and sugary drinks should not be part of your child’s diet because of the amount of caffeine, sugar and artificial ingredients they contain.

The above was from CHOP- Children’s hospital of Philadelphia- a great hospital.

The point? We consume this unneeded, unnatural additive in mass quantity when we drink these products. And, we must consider several factors.

A carcinogen means- on the simplest level- that it causes defects in cell replication. While you may not develop overt cancer- because your body’s natural defenses are able to fight it off- once again the person ingesting this crap is exposing himself to a path of resistance that undermines his overall health- because his body is using his immune system to destroy and recycle the cells damaged by the ingredients in a liquid we consume for pleasure.

In other words- we choose to remain addicted to these products- and while the normal, healthy body can generally fight these problems off- and deal with the oxidative stress in the kidneys (and elsewhere)- the body is fighting several wars on several fronts- and getting rid of the liquid crack is going to remove some of the tasks that your body is doing automatically.

Removing this product from your life will allow your body to heal faster.

Less resistance- and we will look at the rest of the ingredients, in order to solidify this fact.

Phosphoric Acid

You would not drink this substance on it’s own- nor would you drink battery acid- it damages tissues. Sure, it may be an amount that your body has been able to handle- and you hardly feel anything, because it happens internally. Why would you willingly want to continue doing this when your body is at war with metabolic health issues?

The above (2) images are from Dr Axe.com- they do great work describing some of the most common health issues from consumption of modern food products.

These issues may not seem to happen to you, or they may be mild. Mild enough to ignore- but the ingestion of these things- and the phosphoric acid is not something that is going to promote health- and will sidetrack your resources. Why not give your body a break from this stuff, and allow it to heal better, and heal faster?

ASPARTAME?

WTF is this stuff? How do you say it properly?

Yikes. I was oblivious to this knowledge. Asleep at the switch. If this product increases the risk of type 2 diabetes- then it surely will help keep me diabetic after the fact, and that is something I wanted to avoid.

The problem with the studies on the subject- THE CHEMICAL AND FOOD INDUSTRY supplies a lot of funding to discredit and dispute the findings- and it is very difficult to pinpoint precise amounts.

Avoiding Aspartame is avoiding extra stress on your body. Quit Now.

Potassium Benzoate-

Diminish stressors and contaminants, irritants and pollutants today.

Getting rid of the liquid crack will diminish the need for your body to combat all of the side effects of consumption of a product that is simply desired because it is addictive. The ZERO? It means that there is nothing positive in it for you.

Yes, I was a life-long fan of the product with sugar- which nearly put me in the grave- gave me diabetes and put me in terrible health. If I had to consider one item as the most detrimental to my health-it would have to have been the “regular” soda that I thought was absolutely harmless-

Without examination of the disease I developed, I would most definitely still have continued damaging myself- with the Zero products that appear to be harmless.

We need to become more Stoic in our lifestyles- and examine everything we need to examine- and remove ourselves from Harm’s way. It may seem minimal to some people- because they do not wish to give up something they “love”. The stoics say that you can only change what you control. When you give up the soda- you will initially “miss” it- the soda is a highly addictive product. You can give it up and should be able to do so more easily- now that you have a better idea of what it is doing to you.

Better still- if you are a diabetic and used to drink liters of regular soda- you should give it up on principle- they have immensely profited on your addiction and knowingly have put a product out there that has demolished your body.

See the next section- the post about regular soda and triglyceride synthesis- when it comes to fatty-fat, the high fructose corn syrup is the number one villain.
